Well, after finishing up the changes for frozenoutpost_beta7f, I decided that the snow textures were rather boring. All the white snow, plus the white sky (couldn't really see much of the mountains) really got old and made the map look cheap in my opinion.
So I loaded up the dust textures and turned it into desert outpost just for fun. Sure enough, it looked 10 times better with some simple texture replacements. I will post this version so you guys can check it out. Let me know if you like the textures better. All of the other changes have also been done to the snow version, so in the odd event that you don't like the way this looks compared to the snowy one, I can change it back.
Please do not overlook all of the other layout changes of this map!!

Oh yeah, most definitely looks better. There is just something about the dust that makes me happy. I will post a link to download this map right here and on the files page later today. Please make sure you download it so that when I switch to it later on you won't have to wait and download from the server!

The map has been sent to UGS. The contact I have said he likes the map, but expressed concern over the lack of entrances to bombsite B (satellite). He's passing it around to the other admins to test. For those of you that don't know what this is all about.. I've contacted UGS in the past about doing a custom UGS map, similar to how CAL has clan1_mill and fire. If accepted, I presume UGS would use this map (or some other custom map) in place of mill/fire when CAL plays them. I hope they opt to go with my map. It would be a major inspirational boost to really finish the map and make the textures perfect.

Ok, I am making some updates for the next version.
1. textures are tweaked (making it look even nicer) 2. decals (rad and ugs logo) added 3. the extra building on top of the CT spawn now has a door and sign saying maintenance (can't be opened) 4. The additional side hallway to CT spawn now has wooden crossbeams acting as support. 5. Some ambient sounds were added (water with a drain pipe from CT building into sewer), wind by the T spawn coming from ceiling and back hallway, computer buzz noises from the CT bombsite. 6. A glow + light was added from the satellite tip to the dish 7. The catwalk T's can climb on to get to the satellite overlook now has a passageway (vents) leading from lower catwalk to CT roof. 8. Some extra wall manipulation was done to make walls look less blocky in places 9. ladder from CT spawn to Satellite removed. In place the grating slopes upwards and some of the ground in Satellite bombsite slops down to meet it. This is a possible change and might be reverted later.

Ahhhh guess what? I have nice sounds now that are triggered by certain areas. Nothing annoying like crickets or thunder, but it adds to the ambience.
